What is Ring Video Doorbell Wired?
Ring, the manufacturer of smart home security products, launched the new Video Doorbell Wired.
This smart home device works with existing doorbell wiring for the power supply. Power alternatives in case there's no existing doorbell system: a Ring plug-in adapter or transformer with these characteristics: 10-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz, or 24VDC, 0.5A, 12W.
- 1080p HD Live Video,
- Two-Way Talk,
- Motion Detection - you can customize motion zones,
- Night Vision.
Through the Ring app - you get real-time alerts sent straight to your mobile device, a compatible Alexa device, or RingChime - you can see who is at your front door.
Mind that the video doorbell does not activate your existing doorbell chime. To hear the doorbell in your home, you should make a connection with one of these options:
- a Ring chime,
- a compatible Alexa device,
- the Video Doorbell Wired + Chime (bundle = $80).

For now, the Ring Video Doorbell Wired is available in black.
But there will be five decorative face plates which are available for pre-order (in the USA).
This Video Doorbell Wired offers a 155° horizontal field of view and a 90° vertical field of view.
Every situation is different, so you may need to install a Ring Corner Kit, or Wedge Kit, to angle the doorbell away from the wall. These kits will help improve the field of view and motion detection.
