Sprint 2way SMS Text Messaging

With Sprint 2way text messaging: SMS (= Short Message Service), you can send and receive a (Sprint) text message.

SMS is a quick way to send or receive a couple of words, but not saying a word. So, you can contact someone else, say in a space where no ringing phones are allowed or in a place where it's to noisy to talk on the phone.

You need a cell phone that is capable of sending and receiving text messages.
The way you can compose and send an SMS message may vary somewhat per phone model but in general, it may go like this:

- from your phone's main menu, select '(Text) Messaging'/'Text Msg',
- then choose 'Options' and 'Compose New',
- use the phone keypad to type your message, (you can also use a pre-set message here)
- after reviewing your message, you enter the phone number of the recipient, and select 'Send' - (maybe, on your phone model you can select the recipient phonenumber before you compose the message).

Predictive Text Input
While composing a message, you can also use Predictive Text Input to enter letters, numbers and symbols more quickly.
The Predictive Text Input software is available on many SMS-supported Sprint PCS phones.

In case you receive a call while composing a message, you can continue the message after the call, by finding your draft message in your Outbox or in the Drafts folder (depending on which Sprint PCS phone you have) . Perhaps your phone may even automatically guide you to carry on composing your message.

In case out of coverage
When out of coverage while sending an SMS text message, the message will be stored in the Outbox or Drafts folder (depending on which phone model you have) and will be automatically sent when you return to coverage.

Sending to recipient's abroad
To send an international SMS is similar to sending a standard SMS text message, but there's this difference:
Instead of using a standard 10-digit phone number, you have to use this format:
011 + country code + wireless number
For example, sending an SMS to Mexico you would enter:
011 52 123456789
or to Canada you would enter 011 1 123456789

Block SMS messages
To block SMS messages you'll need to sign on to Sprint's 'My PCS'. There you'll select 'My Online Tools', then 'Text Messaging' and then 'Settings & Preferences'. Go to the section called 'For SMS Text Messaging Only' to block SMS messages.
