is a two-way FRS / GMRS radio device (FRS = Family Radio Service, GMRS = General Mobile Radio Service) with integrated GPS mapping (GPS = Global Positioning System) capabilities and more.
The Garmin Rino 130 GPS navigation capabilities include a basemap of North and South America, showing cities, highways, railways, lakes, rivers and borders. The internal memory of Rino 130 enables the storage of map data up to 24 Mb. (megabytes), such as up to 500 waypoints, with graphic identification, and 20 reversible routes
The GPS accuracy is < 15 meters, 95% typical in normal mode, 10 feet or less when WAAS-enabled; (= Wide Area Augmentation System).
As this device also features an electronic compass and barometric altimeter, it can provide bearing and elevation readings, when combined with GPS.
You can also use 7 weather channels to receive broadcasts by the U.S. NOAA (= National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).
The radio communication facility operates on the two-mile FRS and the five-mile GMRS bands. The Rineo 130 has 14 FRS channels and 8 channels for both GMRS and repeater operation. There's also external voice activation, vibration mode and for secure cummunications it has a voice scrambler.
It also has track log: 10,000 trackpoints and up to 20 saved tracks to retrace user’s path or companion’s path via location-reporting feature.
