What to do about Wi-Fi problems

When you've got a wireless connection problem then first off, be sure you have internet access through an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Here's more on How to Improve Your Wi-Fi Connection

Router connection problems
When you have connection problems, check:
- Router's power cord is plugged in?
- If there's a Power light, it should be on.
- Cable connection between router and modem.
- Modem lights should be functioning

- Reboot your computer, router and modem in following order:
(do this also when you repeatedly experience internet connection drops)
- Power off your computer, router and modem - wait 30 seconds
- power on modem again
- when modem is completely restarted then power on the router.
- when router is completely restarted then power on your computer.

- Update to the latest firmware.
- Check inSSIDer settings for best channel.
- Check connected devices - sometimes is a driver upgrade needed.

Automatic IP address
Configuring Network settings in your PC's 0.S. to get IP address automatically:

In Windows 7
1. Go into the 'Control Panel', click 'Network and Sharing Center'.
2. Click 'Change Adapter Settings', right-click the 'Local Area Connection' icon.
3. Then click 'Properties' and click 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)'.
4. Then click 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and click 'OK'.

In Vista

3. Then click 'Internet Protocol Version (TCP/IPv4)' and then click 'Properties' .
4. Then click 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and click 'OK'.

Range extender/Repeater connection problems
If your range extender/repeater supports DHCP - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, meaning automatically assigning of IP addresses to the computers in the network, then check status of IP addresses in your router. If static then disable that and try connections again.

Range extender/repeater: Improve connection and speed
Try to place your range extender a bit closer to the main router or access point. For an optimal signal, your range extender should always be placed between the router and the computer or other device.

Range extender/Repeater interference to radio or tv reception
Check the FCC recommendations if your extender/repeater does cause harmful interference to radio or tv reception:
- turn the extender on and off to determine the interference
- relocate the receiving antenna
- increase the separation between the equipment and receiver
- connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit that is different from that to which the receiver is connected

Wireless USB adapter does not connect
- check power light, verify that the adapter is plugged in firmly into the ESB port.
- Appropriate drivers for the adapter have been installed?
- Is your USB adapter listed without any errors in the 'Device Manager' of your computer?
(Right-click in the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop, choose 'Properties' and go to the 'Device Manager')

If you can't solve the problem then contact the product's support.
If nothing helps, then return it.
