Will AT&T let customers buy an iPhone 3G version 8GB or 16 GB, at no commitment? And does this mean that AT&T want to clear inventory because of a new iPhone coming out? Questions, questions..., well likely you'll hear more about it end of March'09.

Nov.'08 AT&T Inc. announced the debut of AT&T Mobile TV, an award-winning service that gives customers access to live news, sports, entertainment and kids' television programming on their mobile phones. The company also announced a one-month free trial for new subscribers.

Per sept.'08 AT&T Inc announced that it has deployed assisted GPS technology (A-GPS) within its wireless network to enhance existing and planned location-based services (LBS) used with A-GPS capable devices.

It earlier made public (Aug'08) that the eagerly anticipated Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 (MDM) is now available to AT&T business customers who use smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.1.

As of Feb.'08, premier communications company AT&T will launch new unlimited U.S. calling plans. This is typically a move of AT&T to please and meet their subscribers' calling needs in the competitive phone market.

Earlier announced is the wireless access to The New York Times on your AT&T cell phone.
Jan.'08 AT&T offers their subscribers exclusive wireless access to content from mentioned newspaper.

For now AT&T is the only carrier to offer The New York Times on customers' cell phone enabling them to have the latest news. The news comes from The New York Times' mobile site and contains news and information on business, politics, sports and entertainment.
AT&T subscribers are advised to select a MEdia Max bundle, which provides unlimited access to streaming video, basic content and mobile webbrowsing with MEdia Net. This service bundle is $19.99 a month and includes 200 text messages.

AT&T Unity
Launched in Jan.'07 the service named AT&T Unity, gives users the nation's largest unlimited free calling community, including wireless and wireline phone numbers, says this carrier, linking home, business and wireless calling.

AT&T Unity subscribers can call or receive calls for free from any AT&T wireless and wireline phone numbers nationwide without getting additional wireline usage fees or using their wireless Anytime minutes.*

To be eligible, calls must originate and terminate in the United States. Wireless voice mail calls, directory assistance calls, toll-free numbers, 900 numbers, international numbers, and "dial-around" numbers are not eligible. AT&T Unity wireless plans do not include Rollover minutes. (Rollover® Minutes allows AT&T customers to keep their unused wireless plan minutes.

Besides free domestic calling to and from AT&T phone numbers, the AT&T Unity plan includes wireless service with unlimited night and weekend minutes, as well as a package of Anytime Minutes.

AT&T now uses "Wireless from AT&T, formerly Cingular" as their new re-branding line.

A bit history.
Following AT&T's merger with BellSouth in Dec.'06, Cingular Wireless is now solely owned by AT&T. Now that branding is complete, the new AT&T represents the largest wireless company in the United States, with more than 62 million subscribers who use the nation's largest digital voice and data network. (Some people use the url: at&twireless.com, but that does not exist). Cingular customers can rest assured that they will continue to receive the quality of products and services to which they’ve grown accustomed—fewest dropped calls, exclusive cell phones and mobile devices, cutting-edge technology, and a large selection of rate plans.

For the right plan users can choose from Individual Plans: not paying for domestic long distance or roaming charges, Family Plans: sharing minutes between 2 lines for one price, Prepaid Plans: local rates in a new, larger coverage area, Data Plans: accessing email, corporate intranet and the internet.
